cruisin charlie Posted October 12, 2012 #53 Share Posted October 12, 2012 I am so excited to sail on the Disney Magic! It looks like a smaller ship than I am use to but it does not matter as long as it is fun and we have Adult things to do. I understand Gamling Casino is not on the Magic but I can fly to Vegas for that. I am going for relaxation, good food, meet new cruisers, and get away from work for 7 days. I hope this cruise will help me to decide my next cruise. I cruised on The Carnival Triump in April, cruised on the Ecstacy when it was in Miami, stayed the night on the Carnival Magic. Please, anyone let us know what you think of the Disney Cruise from Galveston.
Rancher Dave Posted October 12, 2012 #54 Share Posted October 12, 2012 Thanks for the info. We sail on the Magic in 11 days. Did you see the M&M 3pm Promenade Bar on sail away Saturday? Hope we see you there.
jasper2012 Posted October 15, 2012 #55 Share Posted October 15, 2012 We just got back from the 10/06 sailing. Getting off the ship depends on how you do breakfast. If you have second seating dinner than you have second seating breakfast on departure. You have departure breakfast in the same dining room as your last dinner. If you want an earlier breakfast you can go to topsider buffet. We had second seating so our breakfast started at 8:15. They want the cabins vacated by 8:00. We left the dining room at 9:00 and claimed our bags and cleared customs by 9:30. We took the later Disney transfer bus and arrived at Hobby airport at 10:30. IF you are flying into IAH add another 30 minutes. When you disembark you will see two lines one for eople that need porters on the right side (long line) and the one on the left for no porters. Once you claim the bags they have two lines for customs. One for passports and one for other documents. The fastest way to get off is to carry your own luggage and have passports
cruisin charlie Posted November 1, 2012 #56 Share Posted November 1, 2012 I know, I know. This is a terrible thing to talk about and I am trying to quit. But I do have the habit and do not want to offend anyone. Does anyone know if you can buy cigarettes in the gift shop on Disney Magic like you can on Carnival and Royal Carribiean? Also do anyone have an idea where you can smoke oother than your verandah? I do not want to buy expensive cigaretts on shore to find cheap ones on the ship either. Thanks for your help.:)

Thanks for your help.:) There are laces on deck that you can smoke on each ship slightly different but generally its one side of the ship away from the kids areas.Magic/Wonder decks 9/ 10 on one side. Fantasy off Meridian bar aft. I know you can buy them in the duty free but you do not get those until the end of the cruise, cant say I saw them in the gift shop. You would be able to buy in port. jenseib Posted November 1, 2012 #58 Share Posted November 1, 2012 You can buy a carton in the shop in Beat street. They have limited kinds, but they are about $40 a carton. You can smoke in the adult area on the starboard side. you'll see tables with ashtrays.
croozymooner Posted November 3, 2012 #59 Share Posted November 3, 2012 Thanks for all the great info! Trying to decide about flight time home after cursing in march. Projected to arrive at 8:30 in Galveston after right night cruise so different itinerary than this maybe? Would we make a 1240 flight out of HOU using Disney transportation or should we book the 3:50? We have a toddler and a baby with us so the thought of waiting around unnecessarily at the airport sounds awful but obviously don't want to not make flight. Thanks! That should not be a problem, depending on your ground transfer and if you are going to HOU (Houston Hobby) takes a little longer to IAH on the north side. xrae Posted November 27, 2012 #63 Share Posted November 27, 2012 We are back from the Nov 10 Disney Magic sailing out of Galveston. We drove and stayed at the Country Inn & Suites for two nights before the cruise. We had a handicapped accessible cabin and had an ECV and a wheelchair along for my dad. We parked in the port parking lot. So if you have any questions, ask away!
