icruz Posted October 3, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 3, 2012 My DW and I will have available our 25th Milestone obc, a FCC certificate obc, and various "early saver" rate cabin category reductions obc for our cruise in December on the Freedom...question is, are there any restrictions as where and how we can spend this obc onboard the ship?...I have been unable to get a true direct answer from CCL
cruzinlisa Posted October 3, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 3, 2012 I don't recall there being any restrictions. They put it onto your sign and sail card, so you basically have a negative SS balance. Also with regard to the non-refundable thing, they may say ES is non-refundable, but I have heard otherwise. I know last cruise we had about $400 worth of OBC. About $100 of it was noted as non-refundable (from the FCC I presume) and the rest was noted as refundable. The only things we had that would have given us OBC were the FCC, some ES price reduction OBC, and some smaller mystery amounts (which I suspect to be taxes or port fee reductions or something similar). We spent some of it on drinks and at the casino and left with a check for the difference. It was great.
tiggerman101 Posted October 3, 2012 #3 Share Posted October 3, 2012 We got money back from our ES price drop OBC once. We had $1,200 in credit for our Magic Europe cruise. $200 was from a FCC and was non-refundable. The other $1,000 was from price drops. On the last morning we got a check for $250 or so (I can't remember exactly how much it was). They used the non-refundable credit first.
serene56 Posted October 3, 2012 #4 Share Posted October 3, 2012 Go to the casino and start transferring huge chunks every day to your casino side of the card Directions are on each slot machine. then take the card to the cashier cage--- and get your money you might have to play a slot game or two---
sbnuggie Posted October 3, 2012 #5 Share Posted October 3, 2012 Yes same thing with us, we had Non Refundable OBC if you call Carnival you will get a vague and often contradictory answers to almost ANY question you ask, that is why CC is so good sometimes. I went to the Guest Service Desk once onboard and they explained that they will use all of the non refundable credit first then dip into the refundable credit. But the nice lady stated that even if you had left over "non refundable" at the end of the cruise they would still write you a check at the end of the cruise. She explained that what the corporate office prints and what they do on board is often two different things as the corporate office doesn't have to deal with the upset passenger on the morning of debarkation.
