LIVE from the Vision of the Seas Sailing 5 Oct 2012

I guess I could say to each his own, but------ the food pictures I think are very un appetizing. Going on the vision and it doesn't help me select any special meal

Trainman I just really enjoy the sun sets and sun rises and and the nice lock pictures, good memories of two trips through there.

I hope you are referring to the Windjammer pictures .. typical buffet you just throw the food on your plate .. but if you have tasted some of the food (lamb, bread pudding, etc) .. you would know how good it is.

Now the MDR food I hope you found appitizing as it is professionally more presented.

Thanks, were excited about it, we have 3 new ports to explore and revisit 2 of my favorites!!! ;)

***

We have been to all but Granada .. and that is on my list for summer of 2014. Looking at several 10 to 14 day options. After the PC cruise it is hard to do only 7 days :D

Gotchya on the pics of morning and evening....a day.

And the canal is special whenever!!!!....Though I have only been on one transit.

That said...Trainman has ALWAYS said..."food being subjective".....

Enjoy your Vision cruise...she was our Transit Cruise...but have been on sister ships many times....

NEVER to be disappointed in food, experience, or cruise!

Blessings!

Nice to hear you commit on RCCL, I think this will only be our 3rd with this line. Years of cruising the one thing that has changed is the food. I find I do not go hungry, but it sure isn't what I look forward to, as some people just might.

I know my first liking of lamb was when it was on the breakfast menu small chops with eggs. That was available a few cruises, then you can guess where that went. We all know the price of chops in our mkts. The lamb now on cruises is usually a very cheap cut used for roast. I still get it, I think it is the mint jelly that really entices me the most. Ha Ha.

Jim .. I am totally enjoying the cruise! LIVE is keeping me company each day.

I love checking out all your pictures .... Does the Vision feel "cramped" at all? I have only been on the Radiance class & Adventure ... Love reading the menus too!

Keep up the excellent job!

Trainman-2, we ablolutely love your review and pictures. I don't know if you already mentioned it but DW was just wondering , when you go on a longer cruise like this , do you just pack for 7 days and use onboard laundry services or do you pack for more days. Hope this question is not too personal , but we have not taken a long cruise , but are planning to..

Thanks

Hope you don't mind me jumping in with a response. Last year DH and I traveled for 5 weeks, which also included a 2 week TA cruise. We packed for 10 days, all mix 'n match clothes, and did hand washing when needed. Also, in preparation for these longer trips, we purchased several sets of fast-drying underwear and socks for DH, and also 2 pair of high-tech convertible pants (zip off legs and they become shorts,) and several high-tech fast drying shirts. If you are well prepared for longer trips, you can keep packing to a minimum. We probably could have packed even less, but that would go against my nature....;):D Hope this helps.

Day 22 - Friday - 26 Oct 2012 - At Sea in the Pacific

Good Morning Everyone,

We had a great time yesterday. Lots of small adventures on the ship and ashore.

The Ship's IT Systems are in good shape today and I have my photos from yesterday uploaded already.

Laundry.

We packed for a bit more than 7 days...

We are using the Ship's Laundry Services. We get a free bag with our C&A Coupon once a week but the bags are tiny and don't hold very much.

We are also using the ships regular laundry service and paying for it. It is sort of strange for my tee shirts to come back pressed and on hanger, but I have gotten used to it.

We had a small scare yesterday. Our Cabin attendant brought back all of our stuff on hangers but we immediately noticed we were missing all of the undies we had sent in. He went back down to the Laundry and returned promptly with a big bag of folded stuff and all was well.

It ain't cheap but everything comes back clean and fresh.

Be sure to save a copy of the ticket you put in with the laundry!

I started the day yesterday with a major battle with the Ship's ATM Machine.

We had only $1 folding cash to go ashore with.

The ATM near Guest Relations kept timing out and the machine in the Casino would not even acknowledge my presence.

The Guest Relations staff was very helpful and even dialed up my bank for me. The bank said they had received no requests from the ship.

So they had the machine guy come up and reboot both machines and they then worked perfectly and we refilled my wallet.
