maxydu Posted October 20, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 20, 2012 Trying to decide between 2 different beaches- Boatyard or Rockley Beach. Leaning towards Rockley since it is on the south coast; Caribbean Sea. Does anyone know the distance to either beach from the cruise port? Which one is more laid back? Are either rocky? Couldn't find these answers on the Ports board....... Thanks!

Couldn't find these answers on the Ports board....... Thanks! We went to the Boatyard this past may, approximately 15min taxi drive and cost to enter also included taxi ride back to ship. Food and drinks were great. Had fun parasailing and tubing, priced right. A lot of the ships crew were also there for the free wifi. Beach was beautiful and great time was had by all. 8 of us ages 21 to
pcvtmom Posted October 20, 2012 #3 Share Posted October 20, 2012 Boatyard is very close to port, and the price of admission also gets you a taxi back to the ship. We love it! (Been there 3 times...)
*Luv2Cruz* Posted October 20, 2012 #4 Share Posted October 20, 2012 Make sure you check out Lobster Alive which is right next to the boatyard! (50 yards to the left of the entrance.) Less expensive, nice, and a bit quieter if that's what you're looking for!;)
reddgrits Posted October 20, 2012 #5 Share Posted October 20, 2012 I agree with going to Lobster Alive. We got there before they were just opening up for the day and stayed until about 1:30. Very beautiful blue water and white sandy beach. Close to the port also.

hancogran Posted October 20, 2012 #7 Share Posted October 20, 2012 Another vote for Lobster Alive! We also got there first thing in the morning and it was very quiet and stayed until about 1:30 before heading into town. I think it was $5.00 for a lounger but that included a drink coupon and the rum punch was awesome! ;)
gail8 Posted October 20, 2012 #8 Share Posted October 20, 2012 My vote is for the Boatyard. We go every year and love it. Calm water, beautiful beach and lots of fun shenanigans to watch. Gail
jaded_reckless Posted October 21, 2012 #9 Share Posted October 21, 2012 Rockley is really great. We went there last year on our Victory cruise and it was totally worth it. Even our cab driver said that it's his favourite beach on the island and he was very pleased with our good taste haha. It was a beach with some waves which was nice, but also had a sandbar/rock partition area that protected a portion of the beach over to the far side which is good if you have smaller children. There wasn't many people there at all on the day we were there, and if you want a more low key, private, laid back beach experience, then I think Rockley (Accra) beach would be an awesome choice. Boatyard is much more of an active beach from what I understand. And cabs are plentiful at Rockley, so no need to worry and we actually had our taxi driver offer to come back at a prearranged time which was awesome. Rockley all the way! aimodels Posted October 23, 2012 #13 Share Posted October 23, 2012 $12 USD pp. I believe that also includes a chair, umbrella and drink ticket. Cheers, P:)
enester Posted November 1, 2012 #14 Share Posted November 1, 2012 As of last week, we paid $7.00 per chair (2x) and $7.00 for the umbrella ($21.00 total) at Lobster Alive. It included 3 delicious rum drinks (nutmeggy yellow version). We left our stuff and walk down the beach to snorkel. They keep an eye on it - and we had no problem. There were 4 of us so 2 used Carnival towels ~ enester PS: If you're snorkeling from shore - it's better to go further down the beach. PSS: If you don't want the hot walk back to the ship, you can still negotiate $2.00 a head to get back by taxi. enester
