DanJ Posted October 20, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 20, 2012 I haven't been there yet myself, but there are some good suggestions on the hire a driver thread about getting a guy to take you over to the east side of the island.
Rare mitsugirly Posted October 21, 2012 #3 Share Posted October 21, 2012 We usually go to Chankanaab when we are in Cozumel because it's just so beautiful. However, there is going to be 7 ships in port when we are there in December and we decided it would probably be best to go to a place that is an AI and will only allow so many there during port day. Although we haven't been here yet, plenty on here have recommended going to Nachi Cocom. You can do a search on here and find tons of reviews and pictures. It looks very beautiful. We booked, so at least we won't have to worry about too many people there since there is a limit. :)
biker@sea Posted October 21, 2012 #4 Share Posted October 21, 2012 Nachi Cocom was a nice relaxing day with snorkeling being pretty good. They only except a limited amount of bookings so booking early is advised .

VillaHappy Posted October 21, 2012 #9 Share Posted October 21, 2012 That's a lot of ships, but Cozumel is pretty good at handling the crowds of people :D

lovevacadays Posted October 25, 2012 #14 Share Posted October 25, 2012 I would either do one of the beach resorts that only takes a limited amount of people or book a private excursion. Or, there are plenty of tour operators and taxi drivers when you get off the ship that will take you around the island. It's a pretty big island so the crowds should be pretty evenly disbursed except for, maybe, the main part of town.
Magic City Cruiser Posted October 26, 2012 #15 Share Posted October 26, 2012 I hear that Playa Palacar is less crowded because it takes a little longer to get there and most people don't want to pay the $5 or $10 extra for a taxi there. It's quite lovely and can easily accomodate a bunch of folks.
