Thanksgiving on Inspiration - Opinions?

My DH and I have never sailed on Carnival before. Our previous cruises have been on Celebrity and Disney. We have some time off, and time to ourselves the week of Thanksgiving, and saw that there is a Carnival cruise we could drive to and are considering whether to book it. It will be just the two of us, no kids, and we are looking at an Oceanview room.

Would appreciate any input from those who have cruised Carnival over the Thanksgiving week on what we might expect from atmosphere to food.

We cruised last Thanksgiving on the Spirit. Lots of families were cruising. Many on our roll call have cruised Thanksgiving for several years.

The Inspiration was fine the few times we have sailed on her. Stay away from the cabins near the midship elevator shaft on the Riviera (lowest) deck. The smoke from the casino travels down the elevator shaft and loiters down there. It can be smelt for three cabins in either direction.

Never had a problem on her sister ships, Paradise and Elation.

Food wise nothing too special about the Thanksgiving meal. Some pumpkin things, no pie. The plate in the MDR is white meat. I believe it's a minimally processed boneless breast that's easier to slice.

We ate in the buffet for Thanksgiving and they were carving whole turkeys. I got dark meat:). Everything was good except for these odd walnut balls in the soup.

Other meals are usually fine. Sometimes there is a problem with consistency. In January we went on a four day and the food was very good, a week later on a three day the food was 'eh'.

The Indian selection is always good, IMHO.

Thanks for the advice on room selection and the food input. Good to know!
