Rare kjquilts Posted October 22, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 22, 2012 Have a question for anyone who has stayed in Epic spa mini suite 14118. It's the last stateroom port side in the line of spa mini suites. I borrowed below photo from an old posting done by someone else on unrelated subject. I've seen an old review that says the balcony for this stateroom is two or three times as large as the other spa mini suites. On the site where you can look at deck plans free but looking at stateroom photos requires small membership fee there are two photos of the balcony. They show the balcony including the "bump out" circled above (so balcony for 14118 goes from the edge of 14116 to the end of the curve). NCL is telling me the balcony for this stateroom is 56 sq ft, same as the other spa mini suites. Is it possible that NCL changed the ship to put up a divider in the balcony for 14118 to make it like the other spa mini suites and then some sort of door to access the "bump out area" from the spa area itself? I have a 24 hour hold on this stateroom, really hoping someone knows the answer.
Novastar Posted October 22, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 22, 2012 I stayed in 14114 last year. To the best of my recollection the mini-suite balconies were all pretty much the same size. To keep from being disappointed I think it's wise to assume that the size of the balcony for 14118 is only the shaded portion as shown on the deck plan. Most likely the other unshaded space belongs to the spa.

I really didn't want to link the attached thread of a lengthy review because it was done by someone who hated the Epic from the beginning. Let's just say the review was not of the same Epic I sailed on :) I just can't find any other photos I can post here. Anyway, if you would take a look at the first two photos in post 19 you'll see the exterior of 14118 and then the balcony. IF it is still the same looks like an "awesome" balcony. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showt...ght=epic+14118
Rare kjquilts Posted October 22, 2012 Author #4 Share Posted October 22, 2012 I think Susieqtype answered my question via her newly posted Epic Western Med review/report. Her second photo is of Epic port side and pretty clearly shows the 11 spa mini suites and shows #11 (last one towards the stern) having the large balcony with no divider wall. Link attached ..... if i could edit my previous post to remove the link in it i would :) http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1726206
SeaHunt Posted October 23, 2012 #5 Share Posted October 23, 2012 This is the photo of the 14118 balcony from the thread kjquilts refers to above: Described in another review as "The balcony of room 14118 is 3 times the size of the other cabins....the only one that size. It is at the end of the corridor and there is no traffic by the room other than staff". Lovely balcony!
Rare kjquilts Posted October 23, 2012 Author #6 Share Posted October 23, 2012 SeaHunt, thank you so much for posting the photo of 14118 balcony directly into this thread. I figured out how to drag the photo out of the thread and put it on my Mac desk top and into iphoto. What I can't do is drag it back into another post because file size is too large. Looks fine until I hit preview post, then turns to gibberish. It really does look like a lovely balcony :)
SeaHunt Posted October 23, 2012 #7 Share Posted October 23, 2012 SeaHunt, thank you so much for posting the photo of 14118 balcony directly into this thread. I just wanted to be sure they saw this picture in case they didn't click on your link LOL. That balcony is sure a "pro" for this cabin, and I think a "con" would be never wanting to leave it :)
NengEuis Posted October 23, 2012 #8 Share Posted October 23, 2012 I didnt read all the responses so sorry if this has been mentioned. You can actually see this balcony if you are sitting in the sauna. I peeked around and saw this balcony while we were on the Epic and thought it would be lovely! Just be aware that people can see you from the sauna.
NengEuis Posted October 23, 2012 #9 Share Posted October 23, 2012 I should add the glass windows just beyond the balcony in that picture are the sauna windows. (Just in case anyone was unaware that the Epic's saunas have huge windows to gaze out at the ocean while you sweat). Loved those saunas!

Thanks so much for your posts :) Our first time on the Epic we bought the spa passes for the week and only went two or three times. So much to see and do and maybe a little too much time in the casino. This time, less casino, more spa and our own slice of heaven.
