discover there's no better way to cruise than with NCL's Norwegian Wind.

VALID PASSPORTS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL PASSENGERS TO SAIL!

*Casino will not be open during sailings that call on Hawaii!

I just copied this from the NCL web site. Any idea why the WInd would require passports now? No big deal, just curious.

The Hawaii Wind cruise (which it has been doing year round) makes a stop at Fanning Island which requires a valid passport. We had to get passports for a missions trip anyhow so we decided to take this cruise. We loved it. It had some minor glitches but the deal was great and the trip was fantastic!

Actually, the Republic of Kiribati - where Fanning Island is located - doesn't even bother to check if Norwegian Wind passengers have a passport.

But the US Immigration Service does check when the Wind returns to the USA after visiting Fanning Island. And they do REALLY care that you have a valid passport when returning to the USA after visiting a "Far Foreign Port" like Fanning Island.

If by some chance NCL allowed you to sail to Kiribati (and back) without a passport, they would face a huge fine imposed by US Immigration. Then you would pay a huge fine as well.
