e050377 Posted October 25, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 25, 2012 Hello- Are there any things to do in Samana besides beach things? Any museums or points of interest to visit?
Nole0202 Posted October 31, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 31, 2012 Be aware, the port is very rural, a 3rd world village. There will be taxis to take you to the beach or see the local waterfall, just norht of the town. THe town is very rough and poor. The waterfall is reached by a muddy 30 minute walk from the road. There are local men there who act as guides to the falls, while the taxi driver waits at the street. This port is not for the timid.

That does not sound like Samana that I’ve visited. :( But to answer e050377's query: I have no idea if any cruise lines offer it, but there are a couple of zip-line outfits around Samana city. One is on the road to El Valle ( http://www.sama****pline.com/ ), and another is about 7 km west of Samana called Zip Lines Adventures Samana. We did the latter, and it was wonderful. Also, in middle of the Samana Peninsula is the beautiful El Limon waterfall which is traditionally accessed by getting a guide and a horse. And of course, you can do the usual ATV riding, jeep tours, hiking, etc.
