Suggestions for Freeport/Nassau

My DH and I will be in Nassau from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on 12/12 and Freeport on 12/13 from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

 

This is only my DH's 2nd cruise (his first was to Alaska). He is not keen on the Caribbean, but the price was right, and we needed a vacation.

 

This will be my 4th cruise to the Caribbean, but my first visiting the Bahamas.

While not exactly beach people, we could spend a sometime on the beach.

 

Does anyone have any suggestions for sightseeing, casino, shopping, etc. that we can do without taking a Carnival tour?
