Traveler's Checks on Pride.

We are traveling on the Pride over Thanksgiving. I am asking for advice on travelers checks, or other methods to insure cash on hand when we need it without carrying an excessive amount of cash, or paying all of the Bank Fees. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

We used them on Valor .. just went down to Guest Services and cashed them. They can also be cashed in the Casino.

Traveler's Checks

U.S. and Canadian Traveler's Checks can be cashed on board at the Guest Services Desk. Since Traveler's Checks are considered as cash, there is no fee for this check cashing service – there is a $1000.00 limit per guest, per cruise.

Canadian Traveler's Checks will be cashed at the current exchange rate.

I didn't even think travelers checks still existed.

Yes, they still exist. We get travelers checks from our credit union (with no fees) prior to our cruise. We've never had a problem cashing them, and it's better than carrying a lot of cash.

what credit union do you have? The reason I asked is because my credit union said no one was selling them anymore. I had to get cash from the ATM onboard, to keep from carrying a lot of cash on me.

not sure if you are using a credit card for your onboard acct......but if so then you could go to the Casino and put you Sail and Sign card into a slot machine load $$$ from you onboard acct.......then cash out back to your casino acct and the take your card to the cage to get the cash off it.....basically a freet ATM as this will just be billed to your CC at end of cruise.

Midstate Educators Credit Union ( we're both public employees). We can also get travelers checks at our bank, but the bank charges a fee.

I get them from my bank but I also read you can order them online directly through American Express.

I use them all the time. Don't like to back up my S&S with my credit card because I don't want charges added on after I leave the ship (its happened to people). This way I pay cash the night before we leave, get off the ship and no worries. Hopefully I come home with a few uncashed too. Thats always nice :)
