You are not talking about renting cell phones while you are on the ship but in the various ports?

What ports are you going to?

Going NOWHERE

Call any of your local cell phone companies like Verizon or TMobile and see if they have any phones available that can be used internationally. There are now rentable cell phones that you can use while on the ship, even if it's in the middle of the Atlantic. One company I've used is called Roadpost.

It really depends on which cell phone carrier you use. Cingular, TMobile and AT&T Wireless use GSM network, which is common in the Caribbean, as the rest of the world. AT&T, for example, has coverage nearly everywhere in the Caribbean, for their GSM phones.

If you have another carrier or phone, you can call your carrier to see what they have by way of support, or check this Caribbean cell roaming guide .

Finally, one option is to purchase a GSM cell phone, and then purchase a pre-paid SIM card that works throughout the Caribbean. You can find these cards on the web, or likely in port. Make sure that you get an "unlocked" GSM phone by asking your carrier to unlock it, or purchasing on eBay.

do a search on the internet or as they said you could call a local provider in your area. Best bet is the suggestion of buying an unlocked phone and a prepaid sim for the country you are in. Be sure to buy a world phone. 1-800 Mobile or something like that carries them.

We used our cell (SunCom)all the way down to Barbados & there we used an AT&T phone card we had purchased before hand.
