Not sure if I am allowed to post a link in here but here is the linke for Liz:

https://lizpereirastourstore.shutterfly.com/

JW and Jeromes page about carambola is here (page 31 of their review)

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1832567&page=31

Liz is just arranging transport for $10 a piece, but she does all kinds of tours and is highly regarded on Trip Advisor. Since Carambola is closed for the season until October, she will also make a reservation for us there when they open. JW says reservations are needed so we should plan on thats, especially as our group grows....we are now 8 I believe with the addition of Bart and Bob. In JW's post he says that each lounge chairs is $10, the umbrella $10 and he gave $10 for a tip for a total of $40 bucks. Drinks and food are extra I believe.....

Thanks, Ted. Before I headed out this morning, I found JW's review and did find page 31—before you posted it. It sounds like fun. I also did a search and found these two posts:

highly recommend Carambola Beach Club on South Friars Bay. beautiful place (bar-restaurant), very friendly and helpful staff. nice beach chair loungers, beds, large umbrellas for rent ($10/chair, $10/umbrella); drinks ($3 beer, $5-$10/mixed drinks), limited lunch menu at small beach bar or in lovely open-air restaurant. a little pricey at avg. $15-$20 for sandwiches, hamburger, fish, club, etc. extremely nice facilities, lg. clean restrooms, outside showers. nice beach for swimming and ok (but not great) off-beach snorkeling. snorkel gear available for rent, hobie cats, too. (we had our own snorkel gear, so don't know price.) ca. 15min taxi ride from Port Zanty. $5/pp ea. way. at opposite end of same beach (easy walkable distance) is Shipwreck Bar, but no comparison to Carambola, imo. heard that drinks & food at Shipwreck very good and much less expensive. Carambola is much newer and more 'upscale' than Shipwreck, but both on same beach.

Haven't decided where we will go yet, but here us a really fun review of Shipwreck:

We may park ourselves at Carambola, and walk down to Shipwreck for food and a drink. It certainly looks "rustic".

This all sounds great to me.

In Tenerife, we will likely just wander around and have lunch.

In St. Martin, we'll head to Orient beach. For most places there, the chair, umbrella and first drink total $8-10. Taxis are very reasonable. Most drivers try to drop you at a restaurant on the beach that is tipping them but we just wander around looking for a place with comfy chairs and a bathroom (not all of them do). The food on the beach ranges from fries and burgers to pretty good French. We have never once had any trouble getting a cab back so we prefer not to pre-arrange that in St. M.

Iain and I went to Maho Beach last year (along with Russell, Randy, and Jonathan) when we were in St. Maarten. It was good fun. Not sure what we will try to do this year. Maybe I'll take a look at the ship excursions to see what they offer.

Lee - do you spend the whole day at the beach or mix in some time in the port city to do shopping?

I'm all for sharing a cab to Orient Beach.

I am also interested but need to work on Iain. He is not a big "beach" person, but I have not been to Orient Beach or to the French side of the island. I think this could be fun.

Just back from a great weekend in Scranton PA (Kelly Clarkson and Maroon 5) and Corning NY (The Corning Glass Museum). We bought our wedding shirts and ties and now we're just about planned out for that. Next up, the wedding and then we can get ready for this cruise! It's been a busy season!

Lee - I forgot to mention previously, but while you were in Scranton and Corning NY, I was traveling to Toronto for the holiday weekend. I pass through that area on my drive up to see Iain. Sounds like a great time and I hope to get to the glass museum one day.

Thats great news! So far its Me (Ted) and Kim, Walter and Iain, and Mike and Lee that are considering at day at Carambola during out St Kitts visit.

I will ask Liz for an updated price for 6, 8, and 10 (in case we can persuade more to join) for the transport from Port to Carambola.

She is planning on meeting our group at 9am and takes cash only for the transport. No deposit required. She will also make reservations for us at Carambola when they reopen in October. I can email you guys confirmations when we get them if you like.

Soungs like a great day trip!! If anyone else is interested, let us know.

Ted -

Nice to meet you and your partner Kim... will look forward to meeting you at the sail away party on embarkation day unless you are in Rome for a pre-cruise stay and our paths cross. I had previously shared some information with Schplinky (Lee) about Carambola. I have cut/pasted some of that info into this posting for you, but you may have found this on your own. The Carambola Beach Club does not have a website, but they do have many ratings on Trip Advisor and they have a Facebook page. I have included those links below:

Looking forward to the start of a wonderful trip and vacation.

Great Walter, we will definitely meet you at the sail away! Those links are great, thanks for the information on them.

So far we are 8 that need transport to Carambola from Liz, and I have let her know. She will also make reservations for us at Carambola. Of course, if anyone has a change in plans....no problem. Just let me know so I can update Liz.

Starting to think about packing now! :) Fun!

Normally, we got to the beach in the morning, have lunch, spend another hour or so and then get a cab to drop us in town. Then, we shop around town and then take the ferry ($3) to the pier. It's a great beach.

That sounds like a perfect day to me. ;-)

Hi All,

I'm Randy (Jonathan's partner, Russell's friend and cruise friends of Walter and Iian) and finally coming out of lurker mode.

A group of five of us (Jonathan, Russell, my sister Bonnie, our friend Lisa & myself) have reserved the Carambola Beach Club through Liz.

I hadnt been keeping up to date with this thread recently and missed the Carambola booking by Ted (Rock Martian). When Liz asked if we were part of that group I originally said no. After catching up on the posts, I realized we could be considered part of Ted's group and told her so. She said we could share taxis so I hope that's okay, Ted :)

Looking forward to meeting everyone. Not long now!

Cheers

Randy

None for us so far. We often get ours late in the game but I'm not sure why. No matter, we most often have them in plenty of time to order luggage tags. Sure, they can just fill them out on the pier but I like one less thing to work out on boarding day.
