I was just looking at the deck plans of the Zaandam and noticed that on the Sky Deck there is a place called "The Oasis". I was on this ship a few months ago and didn't even know it was there. Has anyone seen this place on their recent trips?

Yes - complete with the phony palm trees. Think it's supposed to be a teen hangout. It was desolate & cold in May/June on my Alaska cruise.

It was empty on our Hawaii cruise also. There were no kids on board. (except us ;))

 

It took us a while to find it -- it's really pretty cool

I can see how it wouldn't get much use in Alaska, but it looks like it would be a fun place to hang out on a warm weather voyage.

 

Do they open it up to the "young at heart" :D if there are no teens on board? Just wondering, because there's one on Amsterdam too, and somehow I doubt there will be teens on a 17-day cruise in mid-December (ending just before the holiday season starts).

On our Xmas cruise (down under, so summer) the teens loved it. Adults are actually not supposed to go there and the kids clubs often have a time where they use it.

 

I would imagine that anybody could go there if there are no teens.

Hi - we are booked for our first Zaandam cruise. We have sailed many other HAL ships and wondered what the special places, etc. are to find on the Zaandam. Thanks
