On NCL:

If you play bingo, you will get raffle tickets. On the last day of the cruise, they draw a ticket and the winner wins a "free cruise". It's actually $1000 (I think) towards a cruise.

I don't think you can win a cruise just playing in the casino.

NCL sends out "free cruise" postcards to CAS players on occasion. I don't have any idea how often or what makes you eligible. You do, however, have to pay port fees and taxes so it is not totally "free" though.

Last summer we received the first of such cards. There were about 8 options in the months of Nov. and Dec. to take a "free cruise". Several ships were included as possibilities, the ones I remember were the Pearl and the Epic.

We took them up on the offer and are sailing on the Pearl in November. Our costs came to about $600 for an inside cabin. Not the cheapest cabin, but still an inside. It is all we really need - we do not stay in the cabin but to sleep and change clothes.

This is my 9th NCL cruise and my DH's 6th I believe. I gamble, he does not. I have only received $ off my account at the end of the cruise in a couple of instances. I am not a high roller by any standards. I mostly play video poker which accumulates fewer points than slots. I do not play table games. We generally get a 17% discount so this is our first "free" cruise but I certainly hope not our last.

You points can travel from cruise to cruise if you do not have enough at the end of a cruise to cash in (be sure to check with the casino staff as soon as you get on board). The transfers can take a few days. We generally cruise 1-2 times a year and always NCL and always in low level accomodations. Our accounts at the end of the cruise are not high as we are not much in the way of drinkers and we get a free drink card for booking with CAS at sea (while in the casino) anyway. My DH always gets a soda card, we utilize the spa passes when available, our daily service charges, and a few other things here and there. Most excursions we usually book off the ship if we even take any. Oftentimes it is just a cab or walking around. We go for the ship experience, not so much the islands. We generally do not go to the specialty restaurants. I can eat very little food at one time so it would be a waste for me. The much smaller portions in the MDR are great for me as well as the option of several smaller meals a day by using the buffet.

All I can suggest is to persevere, always use your CAS card and if you play table games be sure the dealer knows you have the card. Also, you can call CAS at sea. It never hurts to ask and you do not always get the same answer.
