DH and I each spend $300 on a 7-day cruise. In the past we've always played cash, but on the last cruise I was in the casino and didn't have any cash with me, so I put $50 on S&S card. That was easy! We discussed it and DH thinks it may be too easy, may go over the limit. So we're sticking to cash tomorrow when we leave on our next cruise.

Gambling is ILLEGAL where we live, that's right, no casinos or VLT's, so DH and myself go a little crazy once a year when we go on holidays (a cruise)

We have hit a couple of good "jackpots", last year $1860 on slots and this year $985 on slots !

I never get credit from my Sail and Sign card. I am pretty cheap and only play "penny" slots. I bring a set amount to "lose" each day in cash and once it is gone, then I stop. I have won a few times and "banked" the money so at the end of the cruise I have some winnings. Sometimes I win, sometimes I break even, but most of the time I know exactly how much I spent entertaining myself in the Casino :D

I bring $100 cash to play with. Set up bank on SS card and all my winnings go there. I cash out each night. Last cruise I ended up doubling my money which helped when I found out I didn't set up SS card right and had to use winnings to pay my tips and disco ball drink 2 days out!

You can use cash to play the machine but if you win you need to cash out using your sign and sail card.

the casino side of the card is not your sign and sail part of the card-

its set up using your birthdate and a 4 digit pin code.

when you take the card out of the machine it automatically loads any winnings onto the last card that was inserted.

Sorry to be thick but I don't totally understand. I can use cash and get my winnings in cash, or I can use my sail and sign card or credit card and any winnings back on the cards?

You have to set up a players bank. YOu can either put cash into the machine or you can download from your sign and sail card. No matter which way you put money in, when you are ready to cash out, you have to cash out into your players bank. Then you go to the cashier and cash out and get your cash.

Your cards are one in the same. However, you have to set up your account on your S&S for the casino in the casino. Easy to do on any slot machine. You can then withdrawl cash (as long as it's available) from your S&S account. If you have any casino winnings left on your account, you will need to cash out at the cashier in the casino the night before debarkation at the latest. It seems confusing, but it's really very simple. A lot of people do this to withdrawl cash for shore excursions to avoid ATM fees as well.

Is there advantage on one over the other? - YES. Someone posted "No" earlier.

When you are playing slots only, no there is no advantage one way or the other. However, if you try to bankroll your TABLE game play via your S&S card, the casino charges you 3% of the money you get on the card for the convenience. So the casino gets a 3% house advantage without a game being played. Play with cash on the tables, either on the slots.

You CAN avoid the fee by using the S&S in a slot and crediting your bank and then taking your S&S to the casino cage and "cashing out" the money you put on the card. Then you have cash with no 3% fee to go to a table game.

Me and my wife budget 100 per day each. When you reach 1500 "points" you drink for free in the casino. We were on the Fantasy last week and did quite well. We drank for free most of the week, we won enough to pay off our SS account in cash on the last day, and still had our original $100/day to boot. This is not typical of course, but then again I'm not complaining.
