What Kind Of Luggage For Cruise??

My bf & I have been having an ongoing debate. He just bought 2 North Face duffle bags & claimed that this was his luggage for our cruise. Now me on the other hand, feel that whatever he packs will get damaged since the bags don't have the hard casing on the ouside like regular luggage has. So, of course he goes ahead & says I can carry anything that is breakable in my luggage (Lucky me right??)

Any opinions? He thinks I'm out of my mind for thinking he shouldn't use duffle bags. What do you guyz thinks??

There is no flight involved with our cruise. I'm just worried about the baggage handlers throwing our things around, and us finding out that something was damaged.

Unless you're packing glass or fragile items, your duffle bags will be fine. Are you planning on packing alcohol and worrying about that? If so, you should put those things in a carry on. You cannot damage clothes that are in a duffle, they will just be more wrinkled.

Well, I rather he carry his own bottle(s) of alcohol, but now I guess I'm stuck with them!! LoL I just don't want there to be any bitchin on the very first day of the cruise because of something that happened with his bags!! I agree with Andee. Since you're not flying, it should make no difference.

As far as anything that you don't want damaged, hand carry it on and off the ship. If it is packed in your luggage going from/to the pier, you can depend on it being treated roughly.

This also covers the "who packs what" problem. If bf bought it, bf can schlep it off the ship
