We will be staying two nights pre-cruise in Venice next June and I am looking for hotel recommendations from this group. Something that will be easy to get to the cruise port. Something nice. There seem to be so many options to choose from.

Thanks.

There is so much info on this board re hotels in Venice that I am sure you will find lots of info.

we adore Locanda Oseolo (we will stay ther for the 3rd time in Oct) WE consider it our "Venician Home"!

Easy to get to via water taxi too.

We stayed at Locanda Orseolo and loved it. We had a view of the canal, and enjoyed watching and listening to the gondoliers sing and play their musical instruments.

The staff are amazing and helpful with directions, reservations, etc. I can't say enough good words to describe the impeccable service.

Wonderful breakfast is included, as well.

Check them out on Trip Advisor, they get very high marks.

Go through the links to these recent threads about hotels in Venice that are convenient for cruise passengers. Lots of ideas.

After much research we are going with Hotel Olimpia. But the other hotels listed have just as many good recommendations.

Don't forget to check out Trip Advisor too and read the comments about each hotel to see what will work best for you.

If you can easily manage your luggage you can stay anywhere in Venice. You're never more than an hour away from the pier .... you would just need to catch a water bus to Piazzale Roma then the People Mover to the pier.

If you can't easily manage your luggage, Piazzale Roma is the closest area to the pier. Look over the first few pages of this forum to read previous responses to this question, or, use the map feature on tripadvisor or venere.com/venice to see what's available in your budget.

We walked by it several times; a lovely looking place and a convenient location. Out of my price range, but we enjoyed their rose garden. :)

Whether you take a taxi or ATVO express bus from the airport, you'll be deposited in Piazzale Roma within 20 minutes; only one bridge to cross to reach the hotel. This map will orient you.

Just back from NCL Grand Med.

Stayed at BW Olimpia.

What a great hotel! Unique but not a "Holiday Inn" however. All the rooms are just a little bit different.

Marvelous service, great location and so easy to get around. By vapretto or walking.

That is a great map. I found it last night on one of the other threads. :)

Having just returned, stayed at San Cassiano which is a stop on the airport shared shuttle route and took a water taxi to the ship. I recommend staying on a water shuttle stop if you must stay on the Grand Canal or find a hotel with a shuttle if available... it depends on what you want to spend. A private water taxi is around $100 euros for the group. Otherwise, seriously, stay near Piazza Roma at a hotel with car access or a hotel next to a vaporreta stop. I saw people dragging luggage all over Venice and it is not easy on cobblestone, it is confusing and a lot of bridges... with steps not ramps... you are on your own, except for the hotels with a water dock, there is no door to door service.
