Prohibition Party Question Allure

Hey! I am a nurse too...LOL.

Yes..it was THE best thing we did on the whole trip!!!

See the 'Tres Amigas" review here on the boards for pics...as I am at work right now I can't access my photos to post right now, but I'll try to once I get home.

from pics you can see our outfits, that's 80% of the fun of going to the party...we got some strange looks from other passengers who didn't know about it, but that just added to the excitement.

My dress was a bit on the tight side so I elected to put in on right before going to the party. I really wanted to wear it to dinner but didn't. Wish I had though even if it was tight.

We dressed up and wore our outfits to dinner. We had photos taken in our costume before dinner in the Promenade and at the casino. We ended up purchasing two of the pictures in our costumes. It was a lot of fun and when we went, it was soon after this was introduced, so a lot of people couldn't figure out what we were doing dressed as we were. The party is a lot of fun and so are the events that happen leading up to it. I won't spoil it for you, but I'm sure it will be a blast! Have a great time!

We dressed up to the nines and went to dinner in our costumes too. It was great. So much of the fun is in the dress up. I was not feeling well that night so I didn't get to have as much fun as I wanted to. I would sail Allure JUST to do this party again - the right way! I could barely get a drink down, I had a very upset tummy from eating something bad earlier in the day, but there was so much booze going around, it would have set you up for the whole night. FYI, get there sooner than later and be in the first part pf the line up or it may be difficult to find two or more seats together.

If u attended...

Did u dress up?

Did u dress up right before the party or dress up for dinner and the evening?

Becky

Did we dress up? -Yes, my wife and I enjoyed dressing up for the party. On our November 4th cruise I think about 80% of people made an attempt at donning a costume. About 20% of them were really, really good.

Did we dress for the night? - No. We changed after dinner. I do not recall seeing anyone who wore their costume to dinner. I enjoyed waiting for our discrete retreat to open (lol). People leaving the skating show gave a lot of quizzical looks trying to figure out what was going on.

It was a pleasant evening with good music and sipping "tea". The jazz quartet played enjoyable music for the period. The tea was quite good - gin, rum and vodka cocktails were available. Don't go hungry though, the hors d'oeuvres were nothing special.

I'm the red boa 'doll' in the above pics.

Wellll, we discussed dressing up for dinner in our PP costumes, but only DH and I did...although we left all the accessories for later. Before we met the other couples for dinner we stopped on the Promenade and had photos taken with the photographer at the Morgan car. He was really great that night - it was hard to weed it down to just a couple of pics. I liked that it reminds us of the PP but we weren't really too 'costumey'.

It's so funny that the women in our group had quite a few discussions about our costumes ahead of time, but didn't have too much talk about what the guys would wear - and look how coordinated they all are! That photo of the 6 of us is my favorite!

I just can't imagine having as much fun at the Prohibition NOT in costume - or at least some semblance of it.

One warning - check on the quality of your boa! I left a trail all over the ship (like a flapper Hansel & Gretel:p)
