Passport card advantage?

A military passport cannot be used for personal travel; it can only be used in conjuction with military orders to a specific destination.

If you were travelling by land within the Schengen zone you did not need a passport to cross frontiers. As a purely technical matter you could have been asked for a passport to enter Switzerland, had this happened you could have been denied entry without orders.

Doing a little reading today I see Switzerland has joined the Schengen zone also. Passport free travel includes everywhere in red, pink and blue.
