How far to South Beach from...

We are new to cruising from Miami and will be flying in on Thursday Night. we will be staying at the Courtyard Miami Beach and would like to see the South Beach area. How far is it? Would we be able to walk or should we plan on a taxi? Also if anyone has stayed at the Courtyard Miami Beach is there anything in that area to see and do. The hotel seems to have a nice beach and a boardwalk but a boardwalk to where? Thank you in advance for any advice.:)

I think it might be a bit too far to walk for most people. Good news though, there are multiple bus routes within a block of that hotel that will take you down for $2p/p. If you stay out late you can always taxi back (our transit shuts down at midnight).

There is also an automated bike rental kiosk located one block away (Deco Bike).

Thank you for the quick replies - we are in good shape, we run 3 miles daily but we don't want to spend precious time walking to somewhere if there is not alot to see on the way. We want to take in as much as possible with the day we have there. Any suggestions on what to see? Any special places or sites in either Miami Beach or South Beach?

Head down to South Beach and check out Ocean Drive. Find the Art Deco Museum and take a walking tour.

Also check out:

Lincoln Road Mall

Espaniola Way

Ocean Drive.

Holocost Museum

Miami Beach Botanical Garden

Wolfsonian Art Museum

World of Erotic Art Museum

Bass Museum

South Pointe Park

Nikki Beach

Cheap(er) places to eat:

11th Street Diner

News Cafe

the Big Pink

The boardwalk is about 4 miles long and goes behind a lot of the ocean front hotels. You wouldn't waste time by walking. Its interesting to walk it, and its a relaxing stroll next to the ocean.
