Is May 1 a holiday in Monaco? Will stores be open, do the buses/trains run, will #100 bus to Villefranche be crowded around 5:00/5:30?

Yes, it is a holiday in Monaco/MC,and business and shops will be closed, but maybe not all the shops. The trains and buses will run on a holiday schedule, and there is no way to know if the bus will be crowded at 5:30 or so.Maybe someone will have a better answer on this one.

Agree with the others and you will find just about all the decent stores/boutiques closed on that holiday (they also close on Sunday's in MC). Our favorite place to go on a Sunday is St Paul de Vence (Eze would be the 2nd choice) where a majority of shops and art galleries will function on the holiday (many French will go to St Paul de Vence if the the weather is favorable). I suspect that old town Nice will be a mixed bag with some shops open and others closed. As to the 100 bus it should not be crowded at any time that day since there is virtually no commuter traffic on the holiday.
