Transatlantic "Celebrity Today"

Hello - I am thinking of booking the Celebrity TA cruise November 2013 from Barcelona. I tried searching Cruise Critic and google and could not find any of the daily newsletters from a TA. I'd likely be traveling solo so I want to get an idea of what they offer on board, especially sea days. Any information would be great!

Thanks in advance,

Dena

I am currently booked Epic same itinerary n Oct but loyal to Celeb looking at changing to this same cruise, solo currently too although trying to convince some friends to join me. I spoke with a travel agent who told me much more entertainment on Epic and of course a little warmer than Nov.. But i am on the " better the devil you know " mindset... Maybe someone can Enlighten us

I'm reading Cruise Critic from my hotel room in Rome since we sail on the westbound TA on the Silhouette tomorrow. This is our third TA on Celebrity although we sailed Celebrity many times before. The sea days are filled with all sorts of activities from the usual bingo/trivia/stuff to special enrichment lectures that are especially scheduled for transatlantics with the Smithsonian. It's not a cruise filled will belly-flop contests and that sort of thing but there's a lot to do that we really enjoy.

If you save them and scan them when you get back that would be great. Definately not looking for the belly flop contests:) I would be interested to know more about the enrichment lectures.

I am jealous...recently returned from a 7 day med cruise and it wasn't long enough.

Enjoy your trip and safe travels

I am interested in this as well. I am planning to take a westbound cruise to Southampton from Fort Lauderdale in April. I will also be traveling solo. It'll be nice to give me an idea of what to expect on the ship.

We sailed the TA on the Equinox this past spring, our CC group prior to the sailing was very active and put together several activities that occured during seadays - it was our second TA and by far our favorite. We never lacked for things to do either through Celebrity or with our group. We are booked on the 11/25/13 TA from Barcelona - check out our rollcall if you decide to book.

Here is a link to the dailys from our Eclipse TA October 27th-November 9th. There is always something to do and we were both only 22 and 23. We felt there was a good mix of activities.

I hope the link works, please let me know if it doesn't.

It worked good for me! Thanks for posting that. I am planning to cruise on the Eclipse in April.

I noticed you are younger. What was your assessment of taking the TA cruise on the Eclipse? How was the entertainment on board the ship? Did you do any of the tastings the bars held such as the wine tasting? If so, did you notice the pricing of them? I am 29 and planning to go solo.

We thoroughly enjoyed the cruise but a TA definitely attracts a much older crowd (50+) and there were alot of regular travellers/elite members. Dependant on your itinerary there may be some younger people onboard. I didn't see anyone younger than us (other than the children which there were only 5). We mainly went to the Molecular bar. It was generally very quiet (there were times where we sat there for 2 hours and no one else came). We found alot of the younger guests would attend the late show and then go to the bars after so this was a good time to socialise. The martini bar was also a great place to meet and mingle with people. There wasn't a huge nightlife and the ship was pretty quiet after 11pm. The activities staff did organise dance parties now and again (didn’t attend any though) but quasar (the club) was very quiet.

Most guests were very pleasant and though we were quite young we were still able to socialise with everyone. We attended trivia, table tennis and alot of the cooking related activities. We were however quite happy to just relax on our veranda or the pool deck all day. There were days when we weren’t interested in many of the activities.

The nightly shows were generally good. We found the comedians and off the ship entertainers were generally alot better than the dancers etc that are contracted on the Eclipse which perform numerous shows throughout the cruise

We went to the molecular mixology tasting and it was roughly $15-$18. It was very good value.
