What about a fan?

I have a friend who sleeps every night with a box fan on to block out other noice. Has anyone ever taken one on a cruise? Or does anyone know if you could take a box fan on the ship. This could make a difference in whether they go on their first cruise.

If you are flying there is a weight limit for your luggage.

I have heard people taking their fans with them. I use a fan for the noise 12 months a year but on a cruise by the time night comes I am too tired to realize the noise. Tell your friends to get a balcony cabin and open the door. The sounds of the ocean is jsut as soothing to sleep by.

Tell your friend to bring one of those small portable radios that have the sound soothers. I have one that I bring on every cruise. There's a choice of 12 different sounds and a timer. It's about 6" by 4" by 1" and runs on four AAA batteries.

I like the idea of the dollar store fan because as a women in her late 40's and having hot flashes, this is just what I need!

Once on a Holland America cruise, the A/C wasn't working well, so I asked for a fan. They brought in one of those huge round things on a stand. It took up some floor space, but it was great, and whirred me to sleep every night! We always use the bedroom ceiling fan at home when we sleep.
