LIve from the Breeze

It's funny how people see things differently. I'm on the same cruise. The ship feels much less crowded to me than the Conquest Class ships I'm used to. I haven't had to wait in line more than a minute or 2 for anything. There are always free tables, plenty of places to sit. There are so many new venues and plentiful new seating areas on Breeze.

The only places on this ship that I have noticed seemed more crowded to me than usual is the casino & the piano bar. There are a lot of gamblers on this sailing and any piano bar with Ron Pass is going to be packed.

I will agree that the Guy's Burger Stand condiment station is a bottleneck (They need another one) as are all of the drink stations in the front part of the buffet. The rear drink stations are not bad.

I have not been served any cold food on this cruise yet and the dining room service has been perfectly adequate.

Breeze is an amazing ship and I loved the extra fun day at sea today. What a great cruise!

Thanks for the positive review!! Looking forward to our cruise on the Breeze next week. So glad you had a good time!!

My statement dealt with 99.9% of school aged kids across the country, not 1 out of 1000 that is home schooled. If there were home schooled children on a cruise, I am sure they would be well behaved children, not unruly kids. There is a big difference.

LOL. Homeschooled kids are better behaved than kids who attend brick and mortar school?

I personally don't give a sh*t whether they are schooled at home or in a brick & mortar location. As long as they are well behaved children instead of unruly rug rats, that is all I am concerned about. And too often the kids on cruises do whatever they want whenever they want because their parents take a vacation from their parenting duties. If the parents want a true vacation, then leave the kids at home with their grandparents or whomever. If the parents wish to bring them on the cruise, then the parents need to supervise them and not let them run rampant. Unfortunately, this is not the case most times.

I was on the same cruise and had a different experience. Just a few things I'd like to comment on:

The ship didn't seem crowded at all compared to any other cruise I have been on. Longest line I waited in all week was for BBQ. 5 minutes. At 12:30.

I don't think so. There were abnormally high (40+ knot) winds & rough seas during much of our cruise.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Finally got over there tonight. Booked it just before I left last week.

I did not encounter a smoker outside of the designated smoking areas all week. I am a staunch anti-smoker. I would have noticed.

lucky for you

We did the Behind the Fun Tour and the dance captain told us that they record each singers tracks and they do not lip synch unless there is an emergency. (ie: singer losing their voice) and even then, it would only be just the affected person lip synching.

Yea, i arrived early to the show when they were testing the song tracks , fuuny it sounded the same to me.

I didn't like the cartoons or fake background people either, but the LCD screens were awesome.

There were very, very few kids on this sailing. Least amount of kids I have ever seen on a cruise. Unless they were hiding them somewhere.

Again. Very, very few kids on this cruise. If there were kids on Serenity, all it would have taken was a quick mention to a staff member to escort them out of there. Yea yea you said that already

They are actually liquid. They come in a large refrigerated gallon size milk carton. We saw them in the galley on the Behind the Fun Tour. I agree, they're not great.

With 40+ knot winds, there was no way we were docking at Grand Turk.

The cab ride from Falmouth to Negril for Rick's (I go to Negril every summer and it's a horrible, bumpy 90 minutes cab ride from the Montego Bay Airport) would have taken pretty darn close to 2 hours. Pretty hard to fit into our original short port time. #1 $80 is a bargain for a 2 hour cab ride #2 If you really wanted to do this, it could have been easily pre-arranged ahead of time with a little research. (Juta, Courtney Taylor, etc.)

I agree that Falmouth sucks and would rather have gone to Montego Bay or Ocho Rios.

Could have pre arranged it , yes . Did not think getting a taxi would be a problem . look ,i'm just telling it the way i see it . You can tell it the way you see it  as you have tried to several times over in my review .

Heres one of those five minute ,non existence lines . I don't think this fellow was to happy about it.

Thanks for talking us all along on your cruise. Enjoying it so far.:)

Thank you, its not a perfect cruise none the less there were several things i did enjoy .

Never did see a line at the burrito bar, very tasty.

Even thought we had a few days of rough weather ,the ship seemed to handle the waves very well. Never did see any white bags taped to the walls, elevators etc ;), guess that was a good sign.

We are not bad parents...

We're taking our two children out of school for some much needed family time :) The cruise rates are out of reach for my family during the height of the XMas holidays. Both of my kids honour students, and to be honest, not much goes on before XMas break. My son will use his experiences, especially in Belize, for a personal project for school.

I'm sorry if the children on your cruise are behaving inappropriately, but please do not lump all kids in the same group.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your cruise.

I have been reading through these comments and have to totally agree with you. I have taken my kids out in the past for a cruise and dont regret it at all. To be honest I feel like they learned more on the cruise and being in other countries than they would at school. I feel as if we should live while we live and that is what I teach my girls meaning If something were to happen to me or them we will never look back and say man we really should have taken that vacation. School will be there and its not like we are taking them out once a month or anything like that. Now the misbehaviour that is a whole other subject and that is not necessarily bad parenting. Every situation is a different one. People should be careful when judging others.

Thanks for the review of the cruise as you saw it. Too bad dissenters can't just start their own thread.

Thanks i agree, ya kinda of get the feeling that their not wanting you to post your opinion without them trying to turn it into their review :(

But lets get bk to my review :D

All in all i felt the Breeze to be designed around smokers even more so than the Dream.

Some of the bars have exits that allowed you to walk outside on the deck.

Yes there was smoking there and i guess it was permitted as no one made them stop. Also on deck eleven where you will find those comfy seats that are great seats for watching movies. There were smokers there as well. Both sides of the ship at times and some nights with a strong cigar smells.

Ok sure your allowed to smoke there but none the less smoke carries in the " Breeze " all over that deck even from deck ten "Lido".

Now the misbehaviour that is a whole other subject and that is not necessarily bad parenting.

If you encounter unruly kids on a cruise that are running around rampant, doing whatever they please and having no disregard for their actions whatsoever, how can you possibly state that these actions are not a result of bad parenting? The kids are either doing these things on their own, or they are being coaxed into it by newly found acquaintances that they found on board. Either way, it comes back to the foundation that these kids were raised upon, and one way or another, good or bad, it falls squarely on the shoulders of their parents.

You'll have an extremely difficult time trying to convince me otherwise, but I am now a sponge and I am awaiting your words of wisdom to change my mind on this subject.

Well, my kids are NOT home schooled and are well behaved. They are 23, 21 and 7. Have ALWAYS taken them out for a family vacation during school-The older two are now in college (going on winter break for this cruise)--graduated with honors from high school-incredible young men. The youngest is in 1st grade and will do her homework on board.

I have NEVER let them go un attended anywhere and they are not problem children. There are so many reasons people take kids out of school for vacations--budget, vacation time available etc.

Bad parenting comes in all forms, incomes, nationalities etc. It DOES NOT come from parents just taking kids out of school for a family vacation. If you dont want to vacation with children around-why dont YOU spend extra money to vacation at an ADULTS ONLY venue?? Dont have the nerve to tell me when I can take MY kids on vacation--Believe me, they would never be a bother to you or anyone around you!!!

Heres a picture of the" Rap club" and you can see the exit.

This club in the past would be a top forty / disco, but all they played there is " RAP " well thats all i heard . BreezeDec2194_zps1eb4de23.jpg

Are you trying to say that nobody was in the dance club at night? Cuz my last 3 cruises, the club has been busy and they always play "dance" music. Yes, alot is hip/hop--what do your "dance" clubs at home play? Dance clubs are for younger people--top 40 is not dance music for most clubs. I am 45 years old-I actually do like the clubs music and stop in whenever we are on a cruise.

I will be on the Breeze 1/13/13 and look forward to checking it out--It looks pretty cool. Also, they usually start out playing older music in the evening and by 11pm or so, switch over to the younger crowd--its just the way it is--Old people go to bed early, young people sleep all day and go out at night :):)

It's because of bad parenting and the me generation. Since the lull between Thanksgiving and Christmas has cheaper cabins, parents are thinking of themselves and want to partake in a bargain instead of having to pay higher rates when little Johnnie and Mary are out of school. Back in the day parents would never think about having their kids miss an entire week of school, but things have changed over the years. Combine this with the fact that cruise rates are much higher over the summer and over spring break and Christmas and this is the reason that you'll see kids on cruises at this time of year.

Are you serious? Wow..... have you ever considered the fact that perhaps some people can only take a vacation at a certain time of year for any number of reasons? "Back in the day" we also had slavery, intolerance and segregation. "back in the day" my parents who are now in the 80's took my sister and I out of school every year for a trip down south. We did the same with our kids. They are all now in University and heading for professional careers. Too bad their grandparents and parents were so "selfish".... WOW!

Not that i dislike the Red frog Pub it seemed to be relaxing enough and the prices were fair. I was just not sure if i liked the idea of another pay venue and one that reminded me of land based Pubs... I mean we are on a cruise ,right  . We can do Pubs on land anytime.

Sorry! Just need to say something. I love kids. In fact I have 5 of my own and I teach 5th grade science. There are bad parents and their are bad kids. Believe me I've seen it, but there are also great kids with great parents. I wish there was an answer to this problem, but there's not.

As a teacher, I will tell you that no matter how intelligent your kids are, it is truly hard to catch students up after missing a week. Because of state testing I must teach and move on. I cover some science topics in one day. I worry a lot about the kids who miss school. This is strictly my observation and not an in invitation

to argue.

Thanks for reporting your experience on the cruise. I really wish others who were on the same cruise would post their experiences on their own thread. It is so annoying to read their oh I disagree with you. Everything was great we had no lines the kids were angels whatever.
