Airport to downtown

Trying to figure out what we can do prior to our cruise leaving. Flight arrives at 8:40AM How long by cab is it from the airport to the downtown area? Also what is suggested we do before our cruise leaves that afternoon? This will be our first time in NO and were very excited.

Is there any chance of making a 10:00 Tour in the french quarter if my plane arrives on time at 8:40? What about 10:30?

The trip takes about 30 minutes, at least on the weekends. There is no major construction going on right now.

You do not state when you are traveling, as the weather forecast for the next week looks like delays are in order.

We just returned yesterday. Its a 30 minute ride from the airport to NO, or to the ship. Its a set price of $33 for 2 people, lots of taxis right outside the airport building, follow the signs.

There are lots of good city tours, but they usually start at 9AM. If you schedule one later in the morning and your flight is late, you may miss out completely.

Some tours start at 12 noon, or 1PM, but most will be 3-4 hours, that may not work for getting onto the ship in time.

You could always take a taxi to the cruise ship terminal, drop off your bags, and walk around the city, it is very interesting, and then head back to board the ship. Its all within walking distance from the pier.
