AllAmericanAmy Posted December 12, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2012 Hi all - We visited Costa Maya/Majahual in 2003 and remember beach vendors selling crispy strips of deep fried plantains with some hot sauce/salsa. Do they still do that? We will be visiting in January 2013 and are looking forward to our time at Nohoch Kay, where we appreciate the fact they discourage/Do not allow vendors on their property, but we WANT to enjoy this unusual snack. Anybody know from recent visits? Thanks:rolleyes:
Babyruth12 Posted March 21, 2013 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2013 Well when I ordered a hamburger instead of fries they brought me fried plantains. At first I didn't know what they were till the waiter told me, but were they good. Wish they served those here in Florida.

AllAmericanAmy Posted March 22, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted March 22, 2013 That sounds sooo good! I'll be watching this post to see if someone knows where to get it! I know!!! I know!!!:D Was there in January and was HAPPY to find there are vendors that stroll the beach and sell the fried plantains. Yummy (though we were stuffed by the time we found them!). Cheap too - like $1 or $2 US dollars for a baggie of them. When you going? I'm jealous - I wanna go NOW (another trip booked for Dec. 2013 but that's soooo far away). If you are going to Nohoch Kay, keep in mind Jaimie will NOT let vendors on his beach --- you'll have to stroll the Malecon (sidewalk) to find the fried plaintain vendors.
