elou Posted December 15, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 15, 2012 Ship in port 7-3 pm. Private tour is 6 hours. Is that cutting it too close. Figured you cannot get off ship until approx. 8 am? Any thoughts?
wwcruisers Posted December 15, 2012 #2 Share Posted December 15, 2012 (edited) We took the ship's tour for this one. It went to Dzibanche and Kohunlich -- an eight hour day on the bus. It's a LONG drive into the countryside to get to either site -- and a private tour was just outside my comfort zone, for getting back to the ship on time. Whichever you decide, the ruins are amazing, and well worth the trip! Edited December 15, 2012 by wwcruisers
edjny Posted December 16, 2012 #3 Share Posted December 16, 2012 When the length of a private tour starts to get close to the time the ship is in port, you are just asking for problems. For something like that, IMHO, it is worth the extra money to take the ship sanctioned tour. The ship will then wait for you if it runs late. ArtsyDancer Posted January 17, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2014 Hi! I really wanted to take the tour that included both Dzibanche Ruins and Kohunlich Ruins but, unfortunately, it takes longer than our time in port. So now I have to decide which one to choose. How do these two sites compare? Which one is more interesting to visit? And which independent company provides the best experience? Thank you!
