Ship Time vs. Local Time in Jamaica?

We'll be on the Carnival Freedom, arriving in Jamaica on Jan 10th. We're trying to meet up with someone who lives in Jamaica and are wondering if anyone knows if ship time is the same as local time in Jamaica? Our itinerary says we'll be there from (I think) 7:30am until 2pm - would that be the same as her time? Thanks for any help!

Florida and Jamaica will both be on EST.

Is Jamaica on Atlantic time or Eastern Time? If Atlantic they would be one hour ahead of Eastern standard time, until Daylight Saving begins in the spring, when the EST time zone sets their clocks ahead, but the Atlantic does not.

Jamaica stays on eastern time year-round. If you are cruising from an eastern time zone port (Florida) in January, Jamaica will be on the same time as your port of departure. If you were sailing in June, the island would be one hour behind.

 

Never assume the ship stays on home port time. Most itineraries do but we have sailed many where the ship changed time.

Uh...er.... maybe it is Eastern time? I mean, like, look at where Jamaica is. Last time I checked it is not out in the Atlantic ocean, unlike Bermuda. Why would it be on Atlantic time? :rolleyes:

 

As to clock settings due to time of year, that is a different story.

Thanks everyone - looks like from the various links and information that they should stay on Eastern Time since we won't be sailing during Daylight time considerations. Hopefully. ;)
