Longshoreman strike

It potentially could disrupt things and if they strike and there are picket lines the other union workers usually won't cross them. A long time ago we sailed out of NYC on a 14 day Christmas cruise. While we were gone the longshoremen in NY went on strike. Our ship had to dock in Baltimore after the cruise. They bused people back to NYC to get their cars and people were given free phone calls to call the airlines to change tickets. We were lucky - friends had driven us from Philly to NYC and we called them to let them know about the change in plans and they were there waiting to pick us up when we docked back in Baltimore. It was about the same distance from Philly to either port.

Another excellent reason to have trip insurance!
