I read fanny pack question... how about a purse?

I was wondering if you bring a purse to dinner? Or around the ship? I guess I don't exactly know what goes on after dinner. I just thought we'd go back to our room after dinner and then head out after that. We're not the type of family that will stay dressed up. So, after formal dinner, we plan on changing. Am I wrong about that? What do you do....

Thanks,

The answer depends on which cruise line you're on. I would say that you will be in the minority if you change after dinner on formal night. A vast majority will stay dressed all evening. On the more upscale lines such as Celebrity, Crystal, Radisson and the like, you are expected to remain dressed according to the code for the entire evening if you are going to be in the public rooms. RCCI, Carnival, Princess and NCL aren't as strict, but from experience, most people do not go back and change after dinner.

As for the purse, it all depends on you. I have to carry a purse because I need to have my asthma medication with me all the time. I carry a small evening bag to dinner and then to the shows or casino. Some use their husbands as their purse, so there's no problem there. It all depends on what you need a purse for.

We follow the dress code for the entire evening and do not change.

I carry a purse as husband has to take several medications at dinner and after dinner. Also I like to have some kleenex and lipstick with me.

There are quite a few ships that do close the pools around 7 or so in the evening. You have to check your daily program for that information.
