Down to 2 choices Novotel Barcelona City or Barcelona Universal Hotel.

Any thought from the Barcelona experts on the better of the two to see the sights. We do like to walk.

We plan on being there 4 days before the cruise.

With so many hotels it is a hard choice.

Thanks

For location for sightseeing, without doubt, of those two I would choose Barcelona Universal.

- It is next to Parallel Metro station which is on 2 Metro lines.

- There are lots of bus routes nearby

- It is about 5 minutes walk to Las Ramblas.

It is probably a little more expensive than the Novotel Barcelona City but not very much

  • 1 month later...

we stayed in the universal in 2010, it was a very good choice. The hotel is not luxurious but it has a nice simple lobby, the rooms were of very good size, modern and extremely clean. the bathroom was also modern and nice. the only negative i found was that the beds were 2 singles pushed together instead of a king size.

the hotel is about a 10 min walk from las ramblas and the colon statue, the area from the hotel to las ramblas wasnt very nice but we didnt have any problems. if you use the hoho bus, one stop is in the columbus statue, we bought the 2 day pass on placa catalunya and on the second day we boarded from the statue.

hope this helps
