My friend and I are booed ( last minute) on the 3 day out of Pt Canaveral June 10.

I have been snorkeling and have been to Atlantis and to Nassau many times, this will be a first for my friend( first cruise, too).

I would like to introduce her to snorkeling, she is adventerous and athletic. I have gear ( except vests) for both of us. Neither one of us wants to go with 100 or so people, and I am concerened about her getting sea sick in a bobbing two story boat like the one I heard about with the private company ( stuarts cove?0 do you have any suggestions for a nice 2-3 snorkel trip without the major crowds?

How do I reach Stuarts Cove?

When I was in CoCo Cay a few years ago, there was really nothing to see when snorkeling, just a sandy bottom. Has this changed? We thought about just renting a raft and relaxing and reading, etc.

Is it worth it to try to snorkel and go to atlantis the same day?

We will go to Atlantis during the evening for gambling ( also her first time,,, I am a bad influence!) and then can walk around the shops and see the Aquarium. Since she doesn't want to spend a bundle to go to a hotel and spend more money, is it worth it to go during the day

We are goining on the three day and will be in Nassau from 11:00- 3:00.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Holly

Sorry, I sent before editing.

We are booked ( not booed)

My friend is 31 and I am 51

Stuarts Cove is the private Company I was referring to.

Anyone know how to do a spell check on this thing?

Stuart Cove usually has a pretty full boat, but it's a terrific tour.

www.stuartcove.com Give them a call.

Or check Barefoot Cruises, Seahorse or Flying Cloud for a smaller, and more casual snorkeling adventure.

Choose any tour (besides Stuart Cove) that goes to Anthol Island or Rose Island.

I'm not a big fan of Atlantis unless you have kids. The Casino in the evening, and maybe a late nite stroll thru the DIGS would probably suffice.

Have a wonderful trip.

Btw.. you can just hit the edit button to make spelling changes. No spell check, but at least you can fix your mistakes.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

I should have said we arrive at 11:00 AM and leave at 3:00 AM, so we have the whole day and night.

Any new suggestions based on that new information?

Hi Holly! Snorkeling last week in Cococay was nothing spectacular, you remember it correctly. Other than seagrass and the fake ship/plane wrecks there was no underwater structure and little marine life. The water was pretty rough ourside of the swimming area, so we were told we had to stay within the swimming area boundaries. Perhaps it would have been better if we could have gone outside that limit. We did see some interesting stuff, but it paled in comparison to our Bora Bora snorkeling experience. But if you have your own gear it would be an inexpensive way to spend a few hours. The vest rental is $6, $15 if you need vest and fins. Hope this helps you some! We were going to do Stuart Coves in Nassau but changed our minds because of a sunburn I got at Cococay. We had also tried to book an excursion inadvance with the Barefoot sailings but after responding to our initial booking request I never heard back from them. :(

Enjoy your cruise!

  • 4 weeks later...

We snorkled with Stuart's Cove (Fantasy in May '05) and loved it. We booked through the internet and it was only 40.00 per person. We had a great driver who gave us a nice tour of the island on our way to Stuart's. They took us to three different places to snorkel. Their boats hold about 20 people so you're not with a huge group.

We are booked with Stuarts Cove for next Saturday. Hope the ship makes it to dock on time so we don't miss our noon pick-up.

Small world - this week I was speaking with someone and mentioned we would be away for the 4th of July. Turns out he worked for Stuarts Cove in his former life as a diver. Told me all about the shark part - which now we are totally excited for!!

<~~keeping our fingers and toes crossed that we make it this time!

The Stuart's Cove sounds very nice. My only problem is that our ship is only there from 8:30 a.m. til 2:00 p.m. Not enough time:(
