Barrier Reef Excursion

Hi all. Just a quick question. Booked an excursion through NCL to snorkel. We meet at 8:30 and it only lasts 3 and a half hours. They are supposed to take you to the reef and then a beach break. Has anyone experienced this excursion? Just curious because the boat doesnt leave until 5 so we were curious as to whether we would be able to stay at the beach or if we would tender back into town. If the option is for both, what would you reccommend?
