Final Payment and Onboard Rez's

Question: if I make my final payment early will the online system let me reserve showtimes, specialty dinners, etc. -- or will I still have to wait until ~ 2 months out? (Right now when I try to make a rez it states something like "wait until 2 months prior to sailing".)

Reservations for shows and specialty dining are not dependent on final payment.
