SS Ariadne

Recommended Posts

This was my first cruise at the age of 9, forty years ago. It is still a great memory. I sailed aboard with my family many times on this ship and the maitre d, Mario Orengo, became good friends with my family and would come and stay during his time off.

My younger brother would go fishing off the deck with the crew.

Because we were Italian and had a restaurant up north, we always got special galley tours. It was much different then when ships were small and personal and security was not such a big issue.

Does anyone else remember this ship?

Just discovered your post. Yes, my wife and I took this ship in 1971. It was our first cruise and we loved this ship, especially the food. We still have the breakfast, lunch and dinnner menus from our trip.
