Rowan555 Posted January 4, 2013 #176 Share Posted January 4, 2013 That's how they did it on the Splendor. So they just cut everyone off at drink 15? This is not the way it's supposed to be done.

After the 15 they will charge your sail and sign card. That is if you are not falling down drunk. However I am sure there are ways the bartender can work it. Just like the drinks on us card in the casino they are only suppose to serve you every 15 minutes so you can't order 2. Well they gave me 2 at a time and just had me sign one receipt and 15 minutes later they gave me the second receipt. My hubby drank for free too. Then that is DEFINITELY not what was stated should happen. The 15 drink flag was supposed to be to make sure a passenger was not intoxicated before continuing to serve drinks. If the passenger is deemed okay for serving, they should receive additional drinks for FREE.
Blazley Posted January 4, 2013 #180 Share Posted January 4, 2013 BUT, is this "flag system" just after 15 Drinks, after this stops, or also after 20 or 30 Drinks ++ ?

That is alot of drinks. And on the port days Carnival made money on the card.
mikel24m Posted January 4, 2013 #182 Share Posted January 4, 2013 I have seen bartenders alert their managers on several occassions in the States. I would think the manager makes the final decision. Takes the heat of the bartender. Im a union bartender and I can refuse service to anyone without getting in trouble with a manager. But our managers back us up as we are doing the right thing for both the customer and the employer and are certified and trained to identify problems.Im pretty certain cruise line staff is not really trained (or care) properly.Im sure they are like the million of people who "bartended while in college"

Blazley Posted January 4, 2013 #184 Share Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) Okay. So that means if you still Okay after 20 Drinks they give you more. Clear is if you are Drunk then NOT. If you have no Card, the can not Cut you of or what ? Normaly YES because if you are Drunk.. Really Confuse.. Most establishments around here the bartenders don't need to deal with crap like that. Sure they can make the call, but more likely than not the customer is going to ask for management. Thats what I dont like .Who decides if I have had enough,Either make it unlimited or 15 drinks and more by the discretion of the staff. Its really not rocket science
Blazley Posted January 4, 2013 #187 Share Posted January 4, 2013 I was at other Ships with ALL YOU CAN DRINk, there was nothing with a " Flag " or " Stop at 15 Drinks ". Just Drink and enjoy it.. Also Carnival told me in a Mail that they know nothing about a " 15 Drinks Limit "
AndrewD65 Posted January 4, 2013 Author #188 Share Posted January 4, 2013 See so many different experiences with this 15 drinks or so Limit. Some say you have to pay, some say the manager will take a look and see your level of intoxication. JH says no limit nor a mention of anything, I am inclined to believe him more then anything. Blazley Posted January 4, 2013 #190 Share Posted January 4, 2013 That is OK. Normal. But if you drink at the Day already 10 Drinks ( Cocktails Beer and and ) and at the Evening you just have 5 rest that is Stupid.. if they have a 15 Drinks Limit why they don't wrote it at the Description ? Also Carnival told me in a Mail that they know nothing about a " 15 Drinks Limit " Honestly there doesn't seem to be an issue on the ships. Most people don't drink until they pass out. Most the people that I know that bought it said it wasn't worth it because they didn't drink that many drinks. Especially on port days.
Blazley Posted January 4, 2013 #192 Share Posted January 4, 2013 Clear is that the " Young generation " drinks more than the " Old generation". My parents don't use the Program because they don't drink so much in 1 day. But for me it is Okay.. Some Cocktail and Beers at the Day and a few Cocktails at Night.. If i am at the evening in the Nightclub, i wanna celebrate and drink also few Drinks, well understood in the ordinary sense.

Most in our group were ordering more often than not just to get their monies worth. And they are big drinkers. In port we were gone all day drinking cheap port drinks with the locals. So those days they didn't get their monies worth. Edited January 4, 2013 by gfy012
smokey haze Posted January 4, 2013 #194 Share Posted January 4, 2013 My husband was cut off at his 15th drink on our last sea day. He wasn't even slurring his speech. They do tell you verbally, at the time you are purchasing the Cheers program that they will access you at the 15th drink but they don't..... they just cut you off. Rare crewsweeper Posted January 4, 2013 #195 Share Posted January 4, 2013 Well, there's a simple way to put an end to all this merry-go-round discussion of a 15 drink limit...for all cruisers posting here who intend to purchase the Cheers package on your next cruise, just monitor via the receipts you'll get how many drinks you actually drink each day of your cruise. Then report back here whether or not they cut you off even though you weren't trying to wear Funship Feddie's Funnel Hat at the same time he had it on(even though you might have wanted too:D) or if they even said anything to you or if at one bar around drink 16 or 17, you actually had a charge to your S&S for a measly Corona. Be sure to check that you have all your receipts (also to see it the drinks show up on your S&S card account as $0.00--someone already using the card may opine if that's the case or not). Or course if you're stumbling side to side down the passageway between the piano bar and the casino and can't recall why you're there because your martini is still on down at the Lobby bar or woonder where the last 15 minutes went to, then being cut off at 10 drinks should be reported too. DD for 7 days Posted January 4, 2013 #196 Share Posted January 4, 2013 Good afternoon everyone. Can someone clarify the “…beer and wine by the glass…” statement. That can easily be interpreted to mean only draft beer is included, and NOT bottle/can beers. And if that is the case, count me out. So, can someone please let me know if the 16oz aluminum bottle Bud Lights are included in the program? Thanks!
gfy012 Posted January 4, 2013 #197 Share Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) Yes try it for yourself! Your miles may vary due to ship and crew! Then we will be having the same discussion all over again :) Edited January 4, 2013 by gfy012

DD for 7 days Posted January 4, 2013 #200 Share Posted January 4, 2013 Thanks Andrew! I thought I was reading too much into that wording but just wanted clarification. I see you are sailing this weekend, I hope you have a great time! I look forward to your first hand assessment of the Cheers program. Please set these folks straight on the 15 drink limit silliness!
