Car rental post cruise at Tampa cruise port

We are booking a very last minute cruise from Tampa and will be staying a few days after in St.Pete Beach. We will need a rental car after we get off the cruise. We are just going to hail a cab to get to the port. Is there a rental company there or will they pick you up and take you to the counter. To much to figure out in a short time but willing to try. Thanks

Thrifty and Payless have a shuttle that runs to the port and back.

 

National used to, but not sure if they have discontinued. You may want to call their TIA location to check.

BTW: There is a Hertz car rental just two blocks from the port at the Marriott Waterside Hotel.
