Zydecocruiser's Carnival Conquest Fun Ship 2.0 Photo Review

Well for example our 12 yo daughter is going to Circle C and that is on one of the decks that you can't get there directly from our cabin. I prefer to walk one end to the other on "public" decks, not stateroom decks so it will be a little inconvenient in my mind anyway :) Oh well, just need to think of it as a little more exercise I guess.

Deck 5 is public but can have smoke from the casino.

Thanks for the awesome review!

I was wondering where the fabled caesar salads and calzones were on Liberty back in October, since I'd heard they were available at the 24-hour pizza station, but now I see they went away when they changed to Pizza Pirate. Piratical or not, that was some seriously great pizza...and I kept hearing people saying they hated it. I'm thinking they must have meant the old pizza station.

Unlike you, I'll miss the Mongolian Wok. We were lucky to have both it and Guy's Burgers on Liberty (plus Blue Iguana Cantina, yum!). In your pics, I gather the new "Comfort Food" station replaced the Mongolian Wok?

I can't blame CCL for replacing a food station that, due to its cooked-to-order nature often had long lines, but it was so fresh and good. :(

Now I'm considering Victory in October, and they won't have Guy's or the Wok. Aieeeee!

Outstanding as usual...You may think you would starve as a professional food photographer, but I've seen a lot of photos over the years, and I'd have to say yours were EASILY THE BEST. What an extreme pleasure it was going thru your photo review.

We love Deanie's seafood, too. :):):)

love love LOVE LLLLLOOOOOOVVVVVVVEEEEEE your review so far! seriously, my mouth was watering at the burgers lol.

i have never been a fan of the pizza served onboard but dh loves it...(old pizza) we have yet to try the new pizza pirate. we will be on the conquest in march. we were on here in 2007 so we can't wait to see the new changes.

we'll also be more experienced cruisers this time as the first time we cruised ever was on the conquest and missed a lot!

I am curious now...are there no longer any "secret doors" to get out to the front of the ship? i know you said there was an observation deck...is that the deck with the search light out front? i cannot remember exactly which deck to go out on the front of the ship.

again, thanks for the wonderful review. i love the before and after photos.

You're welcome. The new pizza is better.

On Carnival Conquest, Guy's Burger Joint replaced the Mongolian Wok.

Gone (from some ships) but not forgotten, pizzeria Caesar Salad and Calzones

p.s. the wok returns on Carnival Sunshine, so you might want to wok that way.

Thank you. I may at some point give photography a shot. Maybe sooner rather than later. I haven't been back to work this year and already hate my job again.

Deanie's is a great value and good, too!

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

There are still open decks forward. Try decks 6 and 7. Deck 9 already had cabins, but they modified them to have floor to ceiling windows. The doors on Deck 10 were locked, but I'm not sure why.

I'm sure you get asked a lot, but I can't find a mention on your blog.... what type of camera do you use? I'm thinking about pursuing this hobby more seriously and want to buy my first DSLR.

Hi,

I use a Nikon D7000 with an assortment of Nikon lenses. My underwater and all weather camera is an obsolete Canon D10 (yes, there will be snorkel pictures :)).

Next windfall I get I am seriously considering buying a Nikon 600 and a Canon D20.

i guess i should modify - considering adding a Nikon 600. The D7000 is a great camera.

Jeepers - been jumping all around and we haven't even left port!

NCL Star took off, but we were still filling up with fuel.

Cruising from New Orleans and on the Mississippi is great, but in the winter (close enough) time, it can get dark before you leave port.

So away we went. Sailing from New Orleans, the ships don't wait until international waters before opening the shops and casino. About an hour is close enough.

So much for the per-appetizer snack. Onto dinner!

NEWS FLASH - while not on this cruise, I think Carnival may be bringing back NY Steak on the first night. At least JH indicated it would be on the Blogger's Cruise menu. Maybe just a test.

Anyway, some of our first night foods

A while back, I remember a conspiracy theory that Carnival was intentionally reducing the A/C at night to conserve energy. That was just another false rumor. I checked periodically throughout the cruise.

Now for a few Lido night shots

Netting over the pool, but it was still full
