Quandry re Vegan, not Vegetarian, food on board

I've oredered many veggie burgers at the grill on the upper deck on several different Princess ships and not once was it ever cooked on a separate grill with separate utensils. They usually plop it on the grill next to the hamburgers. That doesn't really bother me since being a vegetarian for me is a personal preference, not a religious issue and the veggie burger doesn't taste like it has any yucky beef on it:rolleyes:.

 

Also when you order a veggie burger there will be a long wait because they are kept frozen and it takes about 15-20" to get it.

 

When DW orders it, she tells them she expects it to be done in a separate area and with different utensils. If they don't, then they remake it.

 

Yes, there is the wait, but you can then see where and how it is being cooked.

Never thought to ask to have the veggie burger cooked separately. Will have to try that next time.

Thank you to everyone on this thread--I am new to being vegan and have been concerned about what/how to eat while on the ship! I'm on the new Royal 7/5/13 out of Venice to Barcelona and am hopeful that I can maintain my balanced eating while on board. Thanks again!

Bringing this thread back in the hopes there have been some recent VEGAN cruisers that can comment.

 

Have a friend who wants to travel with us but only if she knows she can stick with her vegan diet.

I think I posted on this thread but we cruised at the end of January as vegans and had a great time! We posted all about the food we ate for 10 days on our blog!

Disembarked Ruby Princess 6/04 after 3 b2bs. No problems w/vegan meals. Headwaiter very accommodating with special orders and getting cooks to make tasty vegan meals.
