hotels in San Juan after disembarking from Summit?

Greetings,

Doing a little planning for next year. Booking the Summit for March 2014 and would like to avoid the airport the day of docking and looking for a hotel that might allow cruisers to check in early and leave the next day. The hotel I've checked usually say 3 pm. but would rather just spend the day and the pool/beach then leave the next day.

Anyone have suggestions?

One year we did the shore excursion thru RCCL and it was pretty bad. One small bus with everyone's carry ons and no place to store them not a good way to send a cruise.

I have used the Hampton Inn before and after cruises. Reasonable prices, internet included and convenient. Any taxi can take you from port and to airport.

We stayed at the Embassy Suites after our last cruise. We couldn't check in right away when we got there after disembarking, but they held our luggage in a secure room and we went sightseeing. It's near the airport, so no laying on the beach, but they do have a pretty cool pool area! Once you get there, you may be able to use the pool and facilities while they get your room ready - doesn't hurt to ask.

We have done this many times in San Juan. Wear what you want for the day off the ship and pack one small bag with your swim wear and anything else you may need. When you get to the hotel they will store your bags and most offer to check you in early once the rooms are cleaned. The larger ones all have a place where you can change. We have never had a problem using the hotel for the day and checking in a bit early. Enjoy San Juan is a great place to visit and touring some on your own is a great option as well. Our favoite hotel there is the La Concha Renaissance but there are many good ones in the city.

We like the Marriott Stellaris and LaConcha (another Marriott hotel) both in Condado beach. I might suggest you look at priceline and bid on a resort or 4 star in the San Juan area. You can usually get a good deal and the resorts are on a beach. We've never had any problems checking in early at either one of these hotels. Great pools and beach area.
