He's currently on the Spirit. Captains do 10 weeks on, 10 weeks off, and can get moved to other ships.

Unfortunately, I can't remember the Captain's name. But it was during our 2008 Majesty Cruise to Bermuda. Anyway, there was a hurricane starting to brew while we were in Bermuda. As we were leavingt he ship to Bermuda the first morning, the Captain was greeting us off the ship. I asked him about the storm. His classic response, "Not for you too worry about!" (remembering the Titanic) He even laughed when I told him that response sounded familar. He was real nice, wish I remembered him name. :(

One captain introduced the Chief Engineer by saying he was responsible for everything that shakes and bumps.

Another comment that I thought was funny was made as we approached the Gatun locks in Panama. He said " I sure hope this big sucker fits"

On our latest cruise, the captain was talking about the stabilizers and said sometimes they just call them fins, as in "deployed the fins" but we can't say that when we have Finnish office on board because they get upset.

On our Rhapsody of the Seas cruise in '04 we were docking at Key West and the Captain was out on the crow's nest just above our balcony. He yelled down to the dock workers "Is this Key West?" One of the men yelled "Yes!" The Captain then showed a thumbs-up and smiled for everyone out on their balconies. It was great!! :D

We had left a tender port and the ship had been positioned by GPS instead of dropping anchor. One of the guests asked the Captain why he didn't use the anchor.

 

He replied " Oh -- I have her trained --- I just tell her to SIT-- STAY .

Just off the Gem and had 9 days of Capt. Lars and his funny daily reports. On the sunny days he'd remind us to always use protection. And protect our skin too! A very nice and friendly gentleman!
