Inside staterooms...IA vs IC

We are going on the Gem in July. We are in a suite (10164) and we have booked our friends in 10167 right across the hall. This appears to be one of those sideways cabins. Now that there is the upgrade sale, should I move them to an IA as opposed to the IC that they are now in? I am not sure what the difference is between the two and I have read that the sideways cabins are pretty good. We would save another $20 per person on their room, but other than the IA being midship is there any other difference? Should I just stop messing with their booking and let it be (unless we can afford substantial upgrade due to a price drop of course!)

They are first time cruisers so we are not sure if motion sickness will be an issue, which is one reason I jumped on the sideways cabin.

Thanks!
