Taking Ferry from NJ to NYC Pier

Recommended Posts

Hi,

As many people have advocated, its quite affordable

to park in NJ (imperical pier) ($7 per day) and take the

ferry to NYC 38th street.

However, can anyone who has done this recently

vouch if everything is still okay?

Is it still okay to take luggage on the Ferry i.e. no security

problems.

Is it still $7 per day to park.

Anyone done this recently.

Another couple and I did this on my April 3rd cruise and had no problems at all. I have used the ferry on my last couple of trips. I like it better. A little walk so you have to watch how much luggage you have.

I tried calling the port authority and no one could help me.

But an email said everything was fine.

Where do you park and do they accept cash or plastic?

the cost is now $9 for weekend and $7 during the week.

But it looks like they charge by the day, so it will cost

3*$9 + 5*7 = $67 for parking

plus $21 for the ferry.

So this sames you about $80 over using the NYC pier

parking facility. But not having to drive through

Manhattan ... Priceless!

I'm a little confused about "driving through Manhattan". I've seen this posted numerous times. I know absolutely nothing about NYC but have sailed out of NYC 4 or 5 times and never been in any heavy traffic. Am I missing something?

We travel on 95 from RI, so would be heading south, and get off at the last exit in NY which is Exit 1. A couple of twists and turns and we are on what eventually becomes the Henry Hudson Highway- it's one long road but seems to change names every 100 feet. Am I going the long way around or something? Thanks

The problem with Manhattan is that sometimes there

are huge events that are just known by everyone in

Manhattan but few other people.

For example, I know that next Sunday (June 12th)

is Puerto Rican day and can really stop the

city in places. I'm sure all Manhattanites know

how to overcome these issues, but I don't!
