to buy beverage package or not???

Its all a matter of personal choice. I think you have to weigh up if it would be reasonably cost effective first of all but we also like the freedom of being able to just order whatever we wish from Perrier water through spirits, beers to speciality coffees whenever we want them and have no bar bill at the end of the cruise to settle.

It covers all our dinner wine as well.

We tried it last time on Equinox and it worked very well, just like any other all inclusive vacation. Its a bit pricy but it completes our cruise.

I wish to commend you for an excellent rounding out that highlights the issue to me as a Brit. I want to get value for money and as the package is free, I can drink normally and not worry.

I always try to go for a package deal as I like the "All Inclusive" element of a holiday and the more I can pay upfront the happier I am as it is then a known rather than unknown cost.

Remember that it's not truly "FREE" as you have a choice of ONE of the 3 promo options....$200 credit, grats for 2 ppl (which is worth less than $200 so anyone who chose this in lieu of the $200 credit is an idiot), or the drink package.

Since everyone gets one, by choosing the drinks you give up the $200 OBC....so the true cost of the package is $200, the opportunity cost of the OBC. Still more than a bargain however. I would not likely not buy the package for full price, but for "$200" for 2 people it's a home run. We were looking at the RCCL sailing on the same day, but upon finding the 1-2-3 promo, decided that the extra $300 pp was worth it to book on X. I, like others who have chimed in, would not normally drink enough to justify the package cost of $44/day, but it will definately add the enjoyment of the trip. I have cruised many times with carnival, but never with X. I had expected a more relaxed upscale atmosphere, but I would expect it to me more lively with many guests on the "plan".

Sailing on the Summit on 3/2 from San Juan

Does anyone know if the Summit has live dealers for poker in the casino, or is it the computer screens like Carnival has? Thanks

So, does anyone have personal experience with the Classic package as to whether or not the coffees with alcohol (Aspen, Kingston, etc.) are covered?

You will need the Premium package for liquor drinks as you mention plus the likes of Baileys, amaretto, etc.

I do not have personal experience with this, but someone on another thread indicated they would be covered since such drinks normally sell for $8 or less.

Mulege - have you personally run into not being able to get the coffee drinks with a classic package? Celebrity's web site shows the liquors you mention, or similar ones, as being included in the classic package if you look here and click the link that is in the middle of the classic package description where the words "pay one price" appear. http://www.celebritycruises.com/onboard/tabLanding.do?pagename=onboard_beverage_packages#onboard_beverage_packages_premium_classic_tab/onboard/asrPanel.do%3Fpagename=onboard_beverage_packages_premium_classic

Actually I am from the UK so do not get the 123 programme. We are however sailing out of Southampton which has an included Classic Beverage package, so I feel it is currently free.

If they let us do the 123 propmotion, on a 14 night cruise, I would be suprised if it is not the option I took.
