crusingluver2009 Posted January 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2013 If I'm doing a water excursion, where I have to take a small boat or catamaran, even speedboat, a, I able to still bring my camera and money, backpack or fanny pack? No my camera isn't waterproof and yes I can bring a waterproof container for my money. I'm just concerned about things getting wet and ruined or lost and stolen. Any tips? I would bring a container for your camera though.
Nebr.cruiser Posted January 12, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2013 We've done multiple trips like this and have just left our cameras, wallets, etc. on board with no problems. Even a zip-lock bag will help with the camera. I have had at least 3 cameras ruined by water--totally our own fault twice, once lent the camera to a son. I put my camera, ID, money, towel, sunscreen in a gym bag. Camera in a zip loc bag, and same for money and ID. Never worried about having anything stolen, never a problem. 5326jan Posted January 13, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 13, 2013 We use a waterproof wallet on a lanyard and take a disposable underwater camera. The photos aren't professional quality, but certainly good enough to capture some memories. If it gets lost, only a few pictures and a $13 camera are lost. I can't post a picture due to JAVA being disabled (Thanks a lot DHS!), but here are the links. http://www.amazon.com/Kwik-Tek-Dry-Alligator-Wallet/dp/B000BJ7WHE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1358086349&sr=8-1&keywords=alligator+wallet http://www.amazon.com/Kodak-Underwater-Disposable-Excellent-Performance/dp/B005M9O1DQ/ref=sr_1_cc_2?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1358086393&sr=1-2-catcorr&keywords=underwater+disposable+camera

They come in all different sizes. Amazon has great prices on these and you can also get them at places like Dick's Sporting Goods stores. I like the fact that they float. Here is a link to some of the different sizes: http://www.airhead.com/drypak/storage.html
