Help with excursion in Juneau

My husband and I will be on the Volendam May 29-June 5. We will be in Juneau on May 31 and was wondering whether we should take the whale watch tour in Juneau or do the add on excursion to Tracy Arm from the ship and then do the evening whale watch. we are in Juneau from 1:300 until 10:30 pm after dropping off those interested in the add on TA excursion.

 

We have never been to Alaska and want to see as much as possible. We do have an entire day of Glacier bay cruising as well as Skagwag, which we plan to do the Chilkoot train ride to Lake Bennett.

 

Not sure about Ketchikan yet

 

 

I do realize being so early we may not make it to TA, just wondering if we should chance it or not

I don't have any personal experience with Tracy Arm. But I have been on whale watch trips a couple of times. For us, they are one of the highlights of Alaska. See my trip report on Juneau whale watching here:

I would take the Whale watch trip for sure. Have done it several times and had a very good time. Bill

if you took the Tracy Arm excursion when does it return to Juneau? I would try to do both. and I would do the whale watch excursion independent from the cruise ship with a company like Harv & Marvs.

Tracey Arm tour gets back around 2:30 or 3 and Harv and Mar can do a 4:20 whale watch. We don't leave Juneau until 10:30 pm

Do them both! Tracy Arm is spectacular and is a "must experience" in my book. Book Harv and Marv for the 4:20 whale watch fast....before it gets full. What a wonderful day you'll have!

JMO -- but I wouldn't chance the Tracy Arm tour.

Like others I would do the Whale Watch -- we have done quite a few of them and always love them.
