wkngmomof2 Posted January 13, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2013 Can anyone give me any information about this hotel? I see that it was recently remodeled and the price is phenomenal. It looks lovely. Any information would be great! Thanks!
Human Speedbump Posted January 13, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 13, 2013 This hotel is in a great location at the corner of St. Charles and Poydras. It was just remodled and turned into the Blake. It is in the Ascend family of hotels that are in the Choice family. I have not been in the hotel since the renovation but I have been in the restaurant in the bottom corner that is called Cafe on the Square. The food is great there. This would be my choice of hotels for Mardi Gras because it is on the parade route and is one block down from City Hall. The Mayor toasts the Mardi Gras kings at City Hall. The hotel is just about 5 blocks from the French Quarter, about the same from the casino. I live in Baton Rouge and they are advertising $99 rates for the Blake on the radio, I think just to get the business started as the new name. wkngmomof2 Posted January 14, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted January 14, 2013 Thanks for the input! I thought that it looked very nice and if I can get the room for $79 the first night and $89 the second (Yes those are the correct rates!) then the $10 per day parking is worth it! wkngmomof2 Posted January 28, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted January 28, 2013 I did go ahead and book this hotel and lock these rates. They have some good post renovation reviews on trip advisor so I feel a bit better! And having a hotel right downtown for two nights at less than $200, well that makes me a happy lady! Add discounted cruise parking and a free shuttle and color me tickled! Come on September!
CMOTO Posted January 30, 2013 #5 Share Posted January 30, 2013 I also seen this hotel, is it within walking distance to many places to eat or would we have to use our car? Is the shuttle for drop off and pick up or would you have to get a cab upon returning? I might have to hurry up and book a room myself
wkngmomof2 Posted January 30, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted January 30, 2013 It is definitely within walking distance to a lot! So that is not a worry! Have the valet take your car and don't worry about it! As far as the shuttle, I confirmed that there is a shuttle to AND from the terminal! When you return from your cruise will you please post a review on this board or even this thread. Will be looking forward to it. You said the parking was $10 a day. Is that while you are on your cruise? The website said almost $30 a day. Are you booking through a discount website or direct with the hotel? fuelerdude Posted February 4, 2013 #8 Share Posted February 4, 2013 I am about to book this hotel (Directly through the hotel). The $10/day parking is part of a park and cruise package they offer (Look under specials, the rate is likely to be less as well.). Free WiFi, shuttle, on trolley line, close to a lot, resonable rate, brekfast included in package.....This is a hard to beat deal.:D
wkngmomof2 Posted February 16, 2013 Author #9 Share Posted February 16, 2013 I booked directly through the hotel. The parking is $10 per day, however, as the terminal parking is $16 per day, it is cheaper. The fact that it is $84 per night more than makes up the difference for the parking! The valet parking is $30 while you are at the hotel. As I am staying two nights before the cruise, it still ends up being cheaper!
Rare mitsugirly Posted July 25, 2013 #10 Share Posted July 25, 2013 I just found this hotel as well and I'm considering booking it. We have cruise friends that will saying right next door at the Wyndham and I have stayed at the Drury before and know the walking distance this place would be to everything. It looks perfect and the pictures they are showing on the web look fabulous with the new brightly remodeled colors. Can you guys come back and post after you have stayed here what your thoughts are? (Although I will probably have to book it prior to your stay, but would still like to know your thoughts). :)
