angelndscz Posted January 13, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2013 I see the hours are 9:30 to 6, but is it full service? Would you walk here from the Marriott?
Reggiefan Posted January 14, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2013 Why not go the original in the French Quarter, which never closes? You can walk to the original across the street from Jackson Square or to the coffee shop in the Riverwalk, which is basically a shopping mall on the river. jgmpuma Posted January 14, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2013 Riverwalk is being converted into an upscale outlet mall. We were there a couple of weeks ago and most of the restaurants in the food court had closed. Not sure if Cafe du Monde is still open or not, but check before you go. Cafe du Monde in the riverwalk was still open 2 weeks ago, no one knows when the mall will close for renovations but my guess is right after the Super Bowl

Because we are on a tight schedule with 20 other families. It may not be feasible to go to the original.
BlondeKajun Posted January 15, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 15, 2013 IF Cafe du Monde in the Riverwalk is open, I would consider it walkable from the Marriott, if its not raining :)
willy1094 Posted January 16, 2013 #7 Share Posted January 16, 2013 Because we are on a tight schedule with 20 other families. It may not be feasible to go to the original. If you happen to decide it is worth going to the original the trolly along the river has a stop that will drop you very close. Or you could take it to the riverwalk. The line (at the original) goes pretty quick. The line in the front is for seating and there is a line in the back for "carry-out". Going to the original really is the attraction if you haven't been there. The beignets are yummy either way.
edeco Posted January 22, 2013 #8 Share Posted January 22, 2013 Was just in New Orleans post cruise 1/7. Went to the Riverwalk Cafe DuMonde location. Was not as good as the original. As the other post stated, the Riverwalk is going to renovated. It was a ghost town. The Benights were not fresh as they had no traffic. Take the trolley to the original if you can.
