Cruisin4Fun84 Posted January 18, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 18, 2013 So I had a good day at blackjack on a Canival cruise winning 10's of thousands of dollars. When I went to cash out the casino managers suggested that I deposit the money into my on board account and get a check sent to me instead of walking around with the money. I asked them and they made it seem as though the check would be sent relatively quickly, if not immediately after returning. I was shocked when I got home and called the casino ad couldn't get in contact with anyone for days. The only people answering the phone were for bookings through the casino, not the host. One morning I did get in contact with a rep and she was supposed to call me back that day - never got a response. Now I am finding out it will take up to 12 weeks to get the money. Never did I think I'd have to wait 3 months!! I would have just taken the cash right then. Anyone ever deposit money on board before? What was your experience? How long did it take? And does everyone else have a bad time with Carnival customer service - besides the booking, which they are great at. It's just other stuff... Tried to contact the regular customer service and all they did was refer me to the casino. Tried to talk to a supervisor and after waiting on hold for 6 min he rep said she couldn't wait any longer an I'd get a call back in 24-72 hours... That call never came Disappointed in Carnival... And sad because this experience is making me not want to cruise with them despite the free cruises, casino cash etc. And sad because the staff on board was excellent - besides being given incorrect info about the check time frame
sailor_jimc Posted January 21, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2013 I think you mis-understood what they told you to do. If you deposited it in your Players Bank in the casino, then its going to take a long time for that money to be returned to you. I think what they intended was for you to go to the guest services desk and deposit the cash onto your sign and sail account. (separate from the Players bank even though they use the same card) Then at the end of the cruise you would have received a check along with your sign and sail statement for the amount not used by your S&S balance. Sometimes they will mail this to your home but I don't know if there is some amount level that triggers this versus just leaving it with you. If you leave money in your casino accounts it can take a long time to get it back (weeks)
